The United States Registry of Exercise Professionals

Take the Survey: Core Oncology Knowledge

March 06, 2026

The International Moving Through Cancer Task Force is looking for fitness and exercise professionals to participate in a survey to help us understand how much they know about prescribing exercise for people undergoing active treatment for cancer.

Take the Survey

Why this Survey?

This survey is being conducted of exercise professionals to understand their confidence and ability level to work with people undergoing active cancer treatment to better understand the workforce available to work with this population.

This survey will help to establish a baseline understanding of the workforce needs to provide exercise as standard care in oncology settings. It will also help to inform targeted strategies to upskill fitness and exercise professionals. No experience working with cancer patients is necessary to participate. You do not have to be working with people undergoing treatment or have any specific cancer exercise qualification to participate in the survey.

What does the Survey Consist of?

Your participation in this research project will involve answering questions in an online survey. Your participation is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you do not have to. Your decision will not impact your future involvement with exercise oncology initiatives or opportunities to collaborate with any of the study's investigator team. There are no direct benefits to taking part. We hope the research leads to an improved understanding of the workforce development needs for exercise oncology professionals and will lead to improved integration of exercise into standard care for all people with cancer in the future.

Results will be published in research journals or presented at research conferences. Your name or any other identifying information will not be included in any of the publications or presentations.

The full participant information letter can be accessed here.

Take the Survey

Responses will be confidential, and the survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a drawing to receive one of three vouchers for the ACSM-ACS Cancer Exercise Specialist training course. All data collected within the survey are returned directly to the research team.

The study has been approved by the Edith Cowan University Ethics Committee (2023-04844-Kennedy). Please direct any questions to the principal investigator, Mary Kennedy, Ph.D., FACSM, via email at m.kennedy@ecu.edu.au.
