
CEO and Co-Founder, Medicine-Rehab-Fitness Institute
Jeff Young, EdD(c) (Kinesiology), MS, FMFA, CSCS, EIM, is a medical fitness practitioner, educator, and consultant focused on helping clinicians deliver clear, time-efficient exercise counseling, with particular emphasis on progressive resistance training, and on building scalable pathways to competent exercise professionals. He has worked in high-performance and clinical environments at Duke University, UCLA, and Beth Israel Medical Center. He also served as the founding fitness coordinator and faculty practice provider at Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Center for Health and Healing in New York City, which was the most comprehensive urban-based integrative medicine and medical fitness facility in the US at the time.
He is an adjunct lecturer at CUNY York College in Queens, New York, teaching strength & conditioning, exercise prescription for special populations, sports medicine & rehabilitation, nutrition & health, and a weight training course. He is also CEO and co-founder of the Medicine-Rehab-Fitness Institute (MRFInstitute.org), where he leads education for clinicians and fitness professionals, and scalable medical fitness implementation resources. He is also a co-host of the nationally recognized podcast with the Medical Fitness Association (MFA), “The Medical Fitness Podcast.”
Jeff is the founder and director of the New York Physical Activity Coalition (New York Moves), a state-level implementation initiative aligned with the National Physical Activity Plan. He consults with medical practices across the United States, and healthcare tech companies, on medical fitness integration, referral workflows, and clinician and staff education. Within professional organizations, he serves as chair for the Medical Fitness Association’s Northeast Region, and as the founding and current chair of the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Special Population Interest Group. He is a Fellow of the Medical Fitness Association and was named the 2025 MFA Educator of the Year. Additional leadership roles include former President of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Greater New York Regional Chapter and founding chair of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s Fitness and Medicine Member Interest Group.
