They provide fitness instruction and coaching to individuals or groups, and increasingly, exercise professionals help clients optimize their health and wellness through a holistic approach.
Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based holistic approach to health and wellness that supports preventing, treating, and reversing chronic disease. There are six pillars of lifestyle medicine—nutrition (whole food, plant-predominant eating pattern), physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections.
