EHFA would like to offer our full support and confirmation of our intent to establish an affiliation between EREPS and the United States Registry of Exercise Professionals®(USREPS®) to aid the recognition of certifications and professional status of practising fitness trainers. For more than 5 years there has been a close, mutually respectful interchange, and the development of understanding of the need to establish this accord. It is not by any coincidence that the leading US certification bodies have worked together to form the Registry and that at a European level we are able to reference our two systems to promote and protect the interests of fitness professionals. Both Registers hold high the principles of independence and objectivity that will help better understanding by our clients, medical practitioners and policy-makers of the increasingly important role that the fitness sector has in promoting health-enhancing physical activity and safe, effective exercise. --Cliff Collins, Director of Programmes
